In May 2012, the US Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) updated its Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) to align with the United Nation’s Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. This resulted in Hazard Communication Standard 2012 (HCS 2012, aka GHS) which mandated the migration from Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to a standardized format and renaming to Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and associated product labeling, by by June 1, 2015.
As a leader in the development of environmentally responsible chemistry, Soy Technologies applauded this new standard, and any standard that protects the user, the air, and mother earth. Soy Technologies completed the GHS conversion ahead of schedule in early 2015.
In 2017 California passed the Cleaning Product Right to Know Act of 2017, which required a list of ingredients for all products sold in California be publicly disclosed effective January 1, 2020, and on product labels January 1, 2021. Soy Technologies again enthusiastically endorsed this regulation and updated all Safety Data Sheets to include a list of ingredients and will be updating all product labels in 2020.
